From Wellington we made the drive over to Lake Taupo through torrential rain. It was so bad that the windscreen wipers didn’t go fast enough and every car we passed was crawling along at a snail’s pace.
By the time we reached Taupo we were glad to get into our apartment, the weather was so bad that we couldn’t even go anywhere. I was bored. So bored, that I lay on the floor taking photos of the sky through the patio window.
I don’t do bored well. I get annoying when I get bored. So I then turned my attention to Ian…..Eventually the rain eased off just long enough for us to take a walk down to the lake. It was grey and miserable, and mist sat above the water…..
The town of Taupo was dead, and the weather was grim. We headed back to the apartment just in time to miss even more rain.
It rained all night and most of the following day, but in the afternoon it cleared up just enough for us to take a walk and explore a bit further.
The idea was for us to do another skydive before we left for Auckland; unfortunately the weather was so bad all dives got cancelled. The next part of our trip meant that our New Zealand adventure was nearly over; there was also the reality that the end of our travels were also drawing closer…..Filed under: Personal, Travels Comments Off
