What inspires you….?

November 18th, 2011

….or what keeps you going? I suppose this post could be split into two parts! Inspiration comes in many forms. For me, like many photographers, magazines are an invaluable resource of inspiration.

I’m also a very active person, and I love being outdoors. Although I feel a lot of things have been neglected this year. Due to a lack of time, and the fact that over the past few months Ian and I have been like ships passing in the night, our walking trips have been pretty few and far between…..

But that time away from everything, the silence of the countryside and walking for hours taking in the scenery, is something that feeds my creativity. That’s the time I think out loud, bounce ideas off Ian about the future, and then come home and put things into action.

I’m also lucky to have other creative people to bounce ideas off and work with.

I love what I do; I love what I can create for other people. I also love the freedom it brings me, and the fact that I get to make my own decisions, and build my own path for the future.

I used to find it scary looking to the future. I could never quite piece things together. But now, I look ahead at what I want to achieve and then work backwards. How do I get there? What steps do I need to take to reach that goal? That in itself helps to keep me inspired. Making a list (yes, I LOVE list’s!), and then crossing each thing off…..

…because each time I cross something off, I know it’s moving me one step further to what I want to achieve.

I look at images like these, and I think back to the month that Ian and I spent in Australia and New Zealand…..and I know that everything I put into practice now, will ultimately lead to more opportunities like this….

…..and that’s another thing that keeps me going. Although at time’s it can be tough, everything I do now, will allow me to make my dreams a reality……and that’s what it’s all about….right?

What inspires you? I’d love to know :)

I do that, too. Write down my goals and then work backwards, listing the steps I would need to take in order to achieve the various goals. Love it!

What inspires me? Love. The universe. Books. Magazines. Other photographers. Everything, really, I just have to be looking for it :)

It feels so much easier when I break everything down. Decide on my task and then break everything down bit by bit! I’m feeling really inspired by travel photography at the moment. x
