Prom fashion shoot

January 11th, 2012

As I looked along the rack of dresses, I wanted to pore over each and every one of them.

I’d just returned some wedding dresses to Charlotte Balbier from a previous shoot, (you can see Part I and Part II here) and as I received a tour of the new premises, I came face to face with the Prom dresses.

“Let me know if you need any” said Lucy “You can borrow them anytime you want”.

Oooooh interesting!!

Fast forward about a month and I found myself emailing Lucy with a list of dresses off the Drama Queen FB page.

The shoot took place at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, so I must thank Gill Andrews for making that possible.

There was a fantastic group of people involved in the shoot, so a big thank you goes out to: Catherine Hughes of Ivy Clara Make-Up and Styling, Lucy Williams from Drama Queen c/o Amamda Wyatt, amazing models Florence Rose King, Sophie Hartley and Matthew Herd.

I also want to thank Swarbricks Suit Hire, for Matt’s suit. He looked amazing.

Some of the images have been picked up by Prom Magazine, so at the end of January when it goes on sale, please pick a copy up and check out the mini feature! ….and glossy full page advert! :)

Proms are getting more and more popular in the UK, and girls are looking to the good old US of A for inspiration. It’s a big night over there, and this is starting to take off in the UK too.

You get to choose an amazing dress, get ready with all your girlfriends, grab a date and then head off in a limo, before arriving at the prom ready to party!

After you’ve had your prom though, what happens to the dress?! Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a fashion shoot in your dress? You can accessorize it, funk it up a little bit and make it a bit edgier! You could do it on your own, or with some of your mates, get your hair and make-up professionally done, and get tips on posing too! We can head outside on location where you’ll get your own fashion shoot….

In the next couple of months, I will have some exciting things happening for proms. Some of the details are still be finalised, but be sure to look out for some more shoots with Drama Queen, and even some special offers for Drama Queen customers.

If you’ve got your prom coming up this year, or you’ve recently had your prom, I would love to hear from you. If you were to have a photoshoot, what would you like to see? What would you like to do if you had a fashion shoot in your prom dress? Please leave me a comment or drop me an email: hello@lrobertsphoto.co.uk

Also, if you know someone who is having their prom this year, please send them the link for this post and ask them to get in touch!
