A military wedding: Kelly and Lee

August 31st, 2012

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting alongside Sue Westwood-Ruttledge. I’ve never shot a military wedding before, so when Sue asked me to shoot the groom prep, I had no idea what to expect.

As it happened I ended up walking into a house filled with a welcoming bunch of guys. A mix of military and non-military, all trying to either get their uniform on, or figure out which side their button hole should go on and how to tie a cravat! I think it was the busiest groom prep I’ve ever shot.

It was hard work, but once in uniform, Lee looked amazing.

….Lee’s four guardsmen

…when Kelly arrived at the church, she looked stunning.

Everyone was waiting for the best man Darren to give his speech, and when he did, he didn’t disappoint. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room….

A humorous cutting of the cake !

…..not forgetting one of my favourite parts of the day. The first dance…..

It was a pleasure to work alongside Sue and an honour to be part of Kelly and Lee’s big day. I wish them all the best for the future.

Beautiful blog and some REALLY lovely pictures. Each one tells a story in itself….particularly the speech pictures and the people around the tables, clearly you can see how emotional and powerful the speech was…the shot of the couple snuggling on the table is very touching…..

    VERY good :) xx
