There are many misconceptions about boudoir photography. When mentioned, a lot of people instantly think of glamour photography, along with a range of page 3 poses. There are also many other photographers with their own ideas about what boudoir photography is. For me, it’s about celebrating who you are – tastefully. Women choose to have boudoir shoots for many different reasons. For some, it’s a gift for their partner, be it Valentine’s Day or their wedding day. For others, it’s about reaching a milestone in their life or a certain age and wanting a reminder of how they once looked. Whatever the reason behind it, a boudoir shoot is a personal choice and tastefully done it can create some beautiful images to treasure.

Having a boudoir shooot is one of the most liberating experiences a woman can have. First of all, it gives you an excuse to go shopping and buy some amazing new lingerie, then, not only do you have a fabulous photoshoot, but you also get your hair and make-up professionally done.
If you’re a little nervous – please don’t worry – there’s no rush, and you will be given clear directions to make sure you get the very best out of your body shape.
Whether you want to surprise someone special or you just want to do it for yourself, a boudoir shoot is the perfect way to show off your femininity.
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to do a Boudoir shoot with Becky Deighton and Deborah Ingram. Without sounding too much like Gok Wan, the idea of the shoot was to get women to celebrate who they are and what they’ve got.
Some women freeze with fear even at the thought of getting changed at the gym - but I want all you women out there to celebrate your curves and femininity! (Sorry – I’ve gone into Gok Wan mode again). Seriously though, lots of women hate having their photo taken because they don’t like how they look in the end result. Well, I’m here to show you how absolutely fabulous you can look!
The Boudoir shoot is about celebrating YOU! It’s about embracing who you are and what you’ve got. Think Marilyn Monroe, classic black and white imagery and a classic, simple lingerie look. Think “Old Hollywood Glamour”. Its an amazing experience and it’s done in the comfort of your own home as well. Let’s celebrate your fabulousness ladies!!
