….365 project {days 71 to 78}

April 19th, 2013

Day 71 – Health:

Natural Health magazine. I bought this for the first time a couple of weeks back. With all my ailments, I’m much more aware these days of being kind to my body. I think I drove Ian a bit mad by discovering interesting (to me) articles and then repeatedly saying ‘Ian, listen to this….’, and then continuing to read out loud to him :)

365 project {days 59 to 70}

April 12th, 2013

I intended on posting this last weekend, but I was having some issues with my blog – better late than never though, eh?

Day 59 – Exploring:

It was one of those Sundays where Ian and I were both feeling a bit yucky, so we decided to head out for a walk and a bit of an explore. There’s a building I discovered last month and on Sunday I finally got to go and take a look…. You can see the full blog post ——–> here

Snow camera…..

January 18th, 2013

It started snowing last night, and didn’t stop until this afternoon. We had a couple of inches of snow which meant I wanted to go out and play. The conversation with Ian went something like this….

Me: “Let’s go play in the snow”

Ian: “Okay, what shall we make?”

Manchester Christmas markets street photography….

November 30th, 2012

Yesterday I took the day off and headed out with Ian to visit the Manchester Christmas Markets. We had a meander, a couple of Starbucks (of course) and some super yummy food. I also decided to take the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone a bit and partake in a bit of street photography. It’s something I tend to delve in and out of really – I love the idea of it – the rawness and the reality of it all, but the idea of getting up close and personal with complete strangers just kinda freaks me out! I’m not a fan of cities anyway, I love the countryside along with the quietness and calm that it brings, but yesterday I decided to just go for it and experiment a bit. The sun was strong, and the skies were clear so it would have been rude not to take advantage of all that gorgeous sun flare! I tend to overexpose my images slightly – that’s part of my style – so yesterday I took full advantage of shooting into the sun to experiment a bit more with shadows, as well as with focus – or lack of focus! I must admit it felt good and almost freeing I suppose to capture street life as it was happening. It’s pretty far removed from what I normally do, and I’m not saying I’m completely over the fear of getting up close and personal, but it was good to come home and look at what I’d taken and figure out where I can improve. I’d love to hear your thoughts :)

Life lately and a glass half empty…..

November 20th, 2012

Much as I hate to admit it, sometimes I can be a ‘glass half empty’ kinda gal. We’ve all been there – nothing seems to be going ‘quite right’ and things are taking longer than expected. You can’t quite figure out what to focus on next, part of your exhaust randomly falls off and you lose your Monopoly title…….(all in one weekend might I add)

Happy Las Vegas Day!

October 2nd, 2012

Five years ago today, Ian and I said ‘I do’ in sunny Las Vegas. I’d love to say we’re celebrating by larging it up on the strip somewhere, but unfortunately that’s not the case! Never mind…. next year perhaps :)

I can’t quite remember when it started, but somewhere over the years we picked up a silly obsession with ‘jazz hands’. It was probably me who started it and then I tainted Ian with the sillyness….. On our wedding day we informed our photographer we wanted a ‘jazz hands’ pose…. to say she was confused and didn’t understand what we wanted to do is an understatement. After many minutes of us waving our arms around at her, she kind of smiled and said…’Oh. Jazz hands? Errr…o..k..a..y..’

After 12 years together we’re still just as silly and do many daft things that no-one else would get….. and that’s just one of the many reasons why we’re together!

Happy Anniversary Ian! :)

‘Try it’

August 4th, 2012

With each step hitting the pavement, every breath got sharper. The air was cool, and the only people I passed were dog walkers, or people doing the ‘walk of shame’ home. It was a spare of the moment decision, so I didn’t have any music for my journey; it was just me and the open road.

Operation vegetable update !

June 21st, 2012

The last time I blogged about ‘Operation Vegetable‘ was nearly 7 weeks ago. It was getting a bit tedious blogging every week about how our veg had grown by about 1 cm !

….but looking at how our garden has now turned into an overgrown mass of veg, I thought I would provide a quick update!

Our garden now looks like this…..

Weekly round up….

June 2nd, 2012

I love to blog. It gives me the chance to share what I’ve been up to, and sometimes get things off my chest. It’s like free therapy!

But these past few weeks, I feel like my blog has been really suffering. I know that sometimes, other things have to take priority, but it doesn’t change the fact that something else has to suffer in return. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I should be able to get things up and running properly. But for now, here’s my weekly round up :)

Last Sunday I was involved in a Prom shoot, which was to help promote some new photography packages. If you have your Prom coming up, please get in touch as Prom parties and Prom fashion shoots are now available. Click here for further details.

Weekly round up….

May 26th, 2012

As I was gathering everything together for todays post – I realised the last time I did a ‘weekly round up’ was 3 weeks ago. Oooopsie! Unfortunately my blogging duties have been neglected due to my workload, so I can’t complain! :)

I’m going to start with something that wasn’t technically within the last week BUT I just had to include it. On Friday 18th May, I second shot a wedding for photographer Matt Bowen. The venue was Hillbark Hotel, and it’s such an amazing place! Here is a sneaky peek shot of Rachel looking radiant as she walked into the ceremony room…..

We visited my parents last weekend and also Ian’s cousin. This meant Read more »
