You owe it to your dress!!
When I got married, I tried on at least 30 wedding dresses before I found ‘the one’. But once I found it, I fell in love with it. Waiting the 6 months until I could actually wear it was a killer! But when the day arrived and I finally got to wear my dress, I fell in love with it all over again…..
Remember how you felt when you first tried on your wedding dress? Remember the excitement as you slipped into your dress on your wedding day and then walked down the aisle?
Getting married is an amazing and overwhelming experience; a day filled with joy and laughter. As a bride, you want to look your best. You get your hair and make-up done, buy an amazing dress and look absolutely gorgeous. But, after the big day, Read more »

Day by Day {days 162 to 168}
Day by Day: the last 7 days of images…..
Day 162: A rare moment of trying to relax in front of the TV. Most days, when I’m not shooting, I’m doing something photography related, either at my desk or out and about. Just lately though, Ian and I have been making more of a conscious effort to get some ‘down time’ before bed. I couldn’t even tell you what we were watching. Something mind numbing that we didn’t need to concentrate on. I have trouble switching off, so I probably still had all things photography flying around my head.
Day 163: Realising I had missed a day with my photo, I started looking around my office at some of the random things I have. This is Scarlet….a Bad Taste Bear. She’s fab!
Day 164: Taken along with Scarlet the Bad Taste Bear, when I realised it was getting Read more »

What happens in Vegas {Part III}
So this is the final part of ‘What happens in Vegas’ a guide to getting married in Las Vegas, based on my own personal experience…..if you missed the previous posts, you can catch up here —-> Part I and Part II
Flowers: The flowers were arranged by the chapel, and this is quite common. For us, the groom’s boutonniere along with the brides ten rose custom bouquet was included, but as lilies are my favourite flowers, I upgraded to the oriental lily mix bouquet. I wasn’t disappointed, they were absolutely stunning. I was so gutted when I had to leave them in the hotel room when we left Vegas, but we couldn’t really take them with us on our road trip, it would have been silly!
My lovely flowers a few days old…..
Marriage Licence: You don’t need to apply for this until you arrive. Available from Clark County Clerks Marriage Bureau, at the time of writing this the price is $60. You must have sufficient ID with you; birth certificate and passport are fine, but BOTH of you must appear in person and the licence is valid for one year from the date it is issued. As Las Vegas holds over 100,000 a year (about 315 per day!), you can imagine how busy the Marriage Bureau gets. You can now Read more »

Being a rubbish geek…..
As a photographer, I get giddy about lenses, camera bags, and other things that could possibly be described as geeky. Not massively you understand. But never the less, the giddiness is there.
My favourite lens for the past year has been the 50mm 1.8. I love the shallow depth Read more »

Kath and Dave’s spring wedding {Waterton Park Hotel}
Being a wedding photographer means I get to be part of something truly amazing. I always feel so honoured to be involved in such an important day. Earlier this year, a friend of mine at Uppal Media asked me to cover a wedding, as he was out of the country; of course I said YES!
Kath and Dave got married back in April at Waterton Park Hotel in Wakefield. This was the first time I’d been Read more »

Travels {Melbourne – our final destination}
So after saying goodbye to Karen and leaving Adelaide, we caught an early flight to Melbourne, our final destination. Melbourne is well known for its shopping, so the last two days of our trip were spent meandering around the city picking up any last bits we felt we were missing, and also enjoying good food.
For a city, Melbourne actually felt quite nice and for someone who hates shopping, I found it rather pleasant and not too stressful!
Exploring the city a little further we discovered Union Lane, which is basically Read more »

Caught on camera…..
You know those dreams, where you’re running through the streets naked, feeling completely vulnerable, wishing as hard as you can that everyone would stop looking at you, praying that the ground would just open up and swallow you?
Well, that pretty much sums up my experience of being in front of the camera. The feeling. Not the nakedness. (Oh, it’s also how I feel writing this post)!
I hate it. It’s awful. Yet, I know because of my job, I need to know what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera. I need to put people at ease, and make them relax as much as possible. Which I do. But I still need to feel what it’s like.
Most of the photos I have of myself, are snapshots that people Read more »

Day by Day {days 155 to 161}
Day 155: I have an oversized lampshade in my office that I love. It’s completely in the way of the middle of the room, but I don’t care…..!
Day 156: Our chilli plants are doing fab! We have so many growing now….I think my food is going to be laced with chilli forever, but I don’t mind!
