I love working with natural light and being outside on location, but sometimes it’s good to experiment and do something different. So last month when a summer shoot I was part of got cancelled due to the ‘not so summery’ weather; myself, model Janina Maibaum and make-up artist Catherine Hughes decided we should do just that…….head inside and do something different!
Janina wanted to create a look using brightly coloured clothes & make-up against a white background.
So, we all piled into Janina’s flat, cleared everything out of the way, Read more »Filed under: Fashion | Comments Off on Inside on a rainy day
A couple of weeks ago I headed to Rivington Country Park to do a photoshoot with Paige Sapherson.
The bluebells were in full bloom and looked stunning, so it was only natural to shoot Paige amongst them.
The weather was stunning, but there were plenty of places to grab some top shade out of the blazing sun.
We were spoilt for choice for places to shoot. As we walked through the woods, the luscious greenery looked amazing in the mid-morning sun.
We even found sand!
She was such a dream to photograph.
Thanks to Paige for an amazing shoot, and to Jade Brady for make-up.

This is a sneak preview of last weeks springtime woodland photoshoot. Paige 17, is a beautiful girl who is in the early stages of putting together her modelling portfolio.
Last Wednesday we headed to Rivington Country Park to get some amazing location shots.
I haven’t got around to editing everything yet, but I just wanted to share a few photos. Paige was a dream to photograph and I hope I get the chance to work with her again soon.
Thanks to Jade Brady for doing the make-up.Filed under: Fashion, Portfolio | Comments Off on Springtime woodland photoshoot
Model Janina Maibaum contacted me about a month ago; she was looking to update her portfolio and needed some lingerie shots. I suggested that we do something a bit different and head outside into some woodland; as it was the middle of March I had no idea if she would go for it.
But when she agreed and said she loved the idea, I then had the task of finding some woodland that was pretty quiet where we wouldn’t be disturbed! Luckily enough the first place I found on my location scouting expedition was perfect 🙂
Despite the cold, Janina was extremely professional and was willing to suffer for her art! When we discovered a rope swing, Janina didn’t hesitate in jumping onto it, and with encouragement from boyfriend Chris, she got so carried away, it was difficult to get her off it!
It’s always really good when I meet people on my wavelength and they instantly understand what I’m trying to achieve. Janina was so much fun to work with and we both understood what was wanted and needed from the shoot. It was quite different from my other photoshoots and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for a brilliant shoot Janina, I really hope I get to work with you again in the future.
A big thank you also goes out to Ian for helping out on this shoot, and Jordan Osbaldeston and Lucy Smith for doing hair and make-up, I think the girls were numb from the cold by the time we finished!Filed under: Portfolio | Comments (2)
Before Christmas I was contacted by Sanober Hussain, who asked me if I would work with her in order to build up her modelling portfolio. Last Thursday, on a very cold and blustery day in Manchester, it finally happened. Wanting Sanober to get the most out of her portfolio images, I also arranged for professional make-up artist Michelle Sisson to come and along and do Sanober’s make-up.
Working with a MUA was also something that I had been looking forward to doing for quite some time; it was one of my goals for this year. Michelle created two amazing looks for Sanober and she was on hand throughout the shoot to keep hair and make-up in check. Michelle also helped me to create the look that I was after for Sanober’s images, as well as helping out with positioning and ideas for poses.
It was a very cold and windy day, but despite this our spirits were high and we all had a fun day with lots of giggles. I’ve created some images that I’m really proud of and I think having Michelle on board made all the difference. Thanks guys for a great day!
Many thanks to Michelle Sisson (www.michellesisson.com) for a fab job on the make-up and all her help on the shoot. I look forward to working with Michelle again soon.Filed under: Portfolio | Comments (2)
A couple of days ago I had an email from Hossam Hashim. He said he was in Manchester for a few days and asked if I fancied doing a shoot. Obviously I said yes! Most of my photography portfolio is made up of women and just lately I’ve been specialising a lot in teen shoots as well, so to shoot Sam was as far removed from that as I could get! Studying Economics in Edinburgh, Sam is also signed up with Edge modelling agency. Although the weather was a bit grim and cold. Oh. So. Cold. We both got through it and Sam was very professional and a pleasure to work with. I got some shots I’m really proud of today – I hope you like them too Sam! Thanks again for a fab shoot!Filed under: Portfolio | Comments (4)
Armed with two cups of tea, I walked through Sale town centre and headed over to the tram station. It was so, so cold but Chelsea Leggatt had braved the weather for her photoshoot. With Chelsea’s big personality I knew this shoot was going to be fun from the word go, and I wasn’t wrong! The weather was cold and frosty; there was also still some snow on the ground, but this didn’t stop Chelsea having some fun. She jumped off things, she Vogued (yes, you heard!) and she was also up for some hair swishing as well!! This is one of the most fun photoshoots I’ve ever had. Armed with ear muffs and the most brilliant bear hat ever, I think Chelsea’s personality really shines through in these photos. I really hope we get to work together again soon. Thank you Chelsea, your fun and enthusiasm was simply contagious!Filed under: Portfolio | Comments (6)
