Good for the soul….
Working from home has been giving me major cabin fever lately and the need to break out has been overwhelming. The need to be outdoors, connect with nature and to breathe in fresh air has been driving me crazy. Ian and I keep trying to plan a day off but then something crops up and it gets rescheduled – my sanity has been tested to the limits.
Last week we grabbed an afternoon and headed out into the great outdoors. We ate parsnip soup and drank coffee from a flask. I took photos of scarecrows and we watched people walking their dogs. We walked, we laughed and we discussed plans for the future. Will they happen? I don’t know. But we’ll try our hardest to make sure they do. It’s amazing what fresh air can do for the soul…
Happy Tuesday!

…..I’m so behind with my 365 project – it’s taken me ages to hunt down all photos and sort them all out. I keep telling myself I’ll upload each photo at the end of the day, only it’s not working out like that! …..to the point that I’ve lost a photo! 🙁 I think I formatted my card and then used it again – repeatedly – so I can’t even recover it……
Day 79 – Indian:
Saturday night is normally movie night, so Ian, Ste and I headed out to pick up an Indian take-away. We ended up staying for a full sit down meal instead. It was super yummy! 🙂

One thing I should remember about my 365 project is that I need to stay organised! I’ve been taking photos and telling myself I’ll upload them later that day….. only I get distracted, and before I know it I’ve got photos on two different cameras and on my phone. Yesterday it took me nearly two hours to sort everything out. Note to self: stay on top of 365 project!
Day 44:
Saturday night movie. We’ve never seen ‘The Thing’ before, but it’s been highly recommended on a number of occasions. It was okay – but I found myself giggling in a few places due to the special effects. It’s hard to imagine anything like that these days….

…..365 project {days 29 to 36}
Day 29:
Why is it when you need important documents you can never find them? Even though you know you always keep them in a certain place. Last Friday saw me and Ian turning the house upside down and going through everything at least 4 times each – we still didn’t find what we were looking for……

I’ve been trying to think of a name for my 365 project, and the only thing I’ve come up with so far is ‘……a year in the life of….’. I’m not sure if that’s a bit optimistic though seeing as I didn’t complete the last project….
….here are days 23 to 28:
Day 23:
A Saturday night of Toy Story 2, garlic bread, pizza and Skyfall = happy LR 🙂 I saw Skyfall at the cinema and was in complete awe of it. I thought the cinematography was amazing – I loved it even more the second time around.
….photo a day
Like many other photographers, I’ve tried (and failed) to do a ‘365 project’. I managed to reach day 238 and then I just gave up – it became a bit of a chore, and I found that missing days and then trying to catch up kind of defeated the object of taking a photo a day. Recently I’ve been wanting to start something again, so here goes, attempt number two at a ‘365 project’. I’m hoping in time I manage to come up with a more original name, but one thing at a time eh?!
Day 1:
When I look out of the bedroom window in a morning I’m greeted with the reflection of my house in the rear window of my car. There’s something about it I just like…..

It started snowing last night, and didn’t stop until this afternoon. We had a couple of inches of snow which meant I wanted to go out and play. The conversation with Ian went something like this….
Me: “Let’s go play in the snow”
Ian: “Okay, what shall we make?”

Manchester Christmas markets street photography….
Yesterday I took the day off and headed out with Ian to visit the Manchester Christmas Markets. We had a meander, a couple of Starbucks (of course) and some super yummy food. I also decided to take the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone a bit and partake in a bit of street photography. It’s something I tend to delve in and out of really – I love the idea of it – the rawness and the reality of it all, but the idea of getting up close and personal with complete strangers just kinda freaks me out! I’m not a fan of cities anyway, I love the countryside along with the quietness and calm that it brings, but yesterday I decided to just go for it and experiment a bit. The sun was strong, and the skies were clear so it would have been rude not to take advantage of all that gorgeous sun flare! I tend to overexpose my images slightly – that’s part of my style – so yesterday I took full advantage of shooting into the sun to experiment a bit more with shadows, as well as with focus – or lack of focus! I must admit it felt good and almost freeing I suppose to capture street life as it was happening. It’s pretty far removed from what I normally do, and I’m not saying I’m completely over the fear of getting up close and personal, but it was good to come home and look at what I’d taken and figure out where I can improve. I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂

Much as I hate to admit it, sometimes I can be a ‘glass half empty’ kinda gal. We’ve all been there – nothing seems to be going ‘quite right’ and things are taking longer than expected. You can’t quite figure out what to focus on next, part of your exhaust randomly falls off and you lose your Monopoly title…….(all in one weekend might I add)
Last week I decided Read more »

With each step hitting the pavement, every breath got sharper. The air was cool, and the only people I passed were dog walkers, or people doing the ‘walk of shame’ home. It was a spare of the moment decision, so I didn’t have any music for my journey; it was just me and the open road.
I’ve suffered with Read more »
